Book Discussion Groups
The Robbins Library Book Discussion Group began in January 1994 as a cooperative effort between volunteers and the Robbins Library. Led by a volunteer facilitator, the Robbins Library provides a meeting room and copies of books from the Minuteman Library network.
The group meets from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on the first Monday of each month, re-scheduled only for Monday holidays. Meetings are held in the fourth floor conference room of the Robbins Library. Anyone may join at any time, and there are no membership fees. Attendance at any given meeting ranges from ten to twenty members.
Book titles are chosen by member consensus. Since we do not ask our members to purchase books, the only restriction to what we read is the availability of enough copies in the Minuteman Library network. In the fall of each year, we select twelve titles for the following year, which gives the library's reference department enough time to ensure book procurement. Our choices cover a broad range of tastes and interests, including fiction and non-fiction, classic and contemporary, and American and international.
