Glimpses of Family Life: The Whittemore-Robbins House, 1800-1931

Originally the home of the William Whittemore family, then briefly a girl’s school, and later the home of Nathan and Eliza Robbins, this mansion has been a focal point in Arlington Center for the past 217 years. The Robbins granddaughters and philanthropists, Ida, Caira, and Eliza generously donated their family’s stately home to the Town of Arlington in 1931. Speakers: Ed Gordon, Architectural Historian and Director of Museum Programs, Old Schwamb Mill and Doreen Stevens, Historian, Former Director Arlington Historical Society, Board Member – Old Schwamb Mill. The program will begin in the COMMUNITY ROOM OF ROBBINS LIBRARY and end at the Whittemore-Robbins House.
