Preparing for Rainy Days: Rainwater, Runoff, and Storm control in the Mystic Watershed
September 29 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Zoom program, register at: https://preparingforrainydays.eventbrite.com
More than 10 inches of rain fell in July 2021, six inches over the average rainfall for the month, making July the wettest on record in Massachusetts. The Town of Arlington and the Mystic River Watershed Association (MyRWA) collaborate to manage the effects of increasing stormwater in Arlington and across the Mystic River Watershed. MyRWA works with municipalities, including Arlington, to install green infrastructure, like rain gardens and infiltration trenches, to improve stormwater quality and reduce pollution entering our local water bodies. Join Wayne Chouinard, Arlington’s Town Engineerand Andy Hrycyna, Watershed Scientist for MyRWA, to learn how the region is addressing more intense and frequent rain events and stormwater runoff. We will also learn more about Arlington’s Net Zero Action Plan, Arlington’s roadmap to reduce greenhouse gas pollution to zero by 2050. Co-sponsored by the Arlington Department of Planning & Community Development and supported
Co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Arlington and supported by a civic engagement series grant from the Arlington Libraries Foundation.
