Reel Queer Netflix Party: Circus of Books
August 10 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Join us for a virtual meeting of Reel Queer, cosponsored by the Arlington Council on Aging! We’re hosting a Netflix Party and will be watching Circus of Books, with an optional Zoom discussion to follow. This film is rated TV-MA and has a runtime of 1 hour & 26 minutes.
“In 1976, Karen and Barry Mason had fallen on hard times and were looking for a way to support their young family when they answered an ad in the Los Angeles Times. Larry Flynt was seeking distributors for Hustler Magazine. What was expected to be a brief sideline led to their becoming fully immersed in the LGBT community as they took over a local store, Circus of Books… …Circus of Books offers a rare glimpse into an untold chapter of queer history, and it is told through the lense of the owners’ own daughter, Rachel Mason, an artist, filmmaker and musician.”
To join a Netflix Party you’ll need a computer or laptop, a Netflix account, the Chrome browser, and to install the Netflix Party Add-On in Chrome. (https://www.netflixparty.com/) Netflix offers free 30 day trials for those who don’t have an account.
